Get ready to jump back into multi-world realities! HBO announced His Dark Materials Season 2 will premiere on November 16!
Season 1 of the series premiered in 2019! The show actually received a season 2 pick up before the first aired. The series takes its source material from Philip Pullman’s books Northern Lights and The Subtle Knife. Season 2 is mostly set during The Subtle Knife.
HBO programming chief Casey Bloys speaks on the first season’s success. “One of the things that I was hoping for, and the numbers we’re seeing bear this out, it is more of a co-viewing show than we’ve ever had. We don’t have many shows where kids and parents can watch together, and that was the idea with this show and it has done really well.”
Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, Amir Wilson, Ariyon Bakare, Andrew Scott, Will Keen, Ruta Gedmintas and Lin-Manuel Miranda are all returning for Season 2. New faces include Terence Stamp, Jade Anouka and Simone Kirby.
Apparently, the writing team is getting scripts ready for a third season. The third season has yet to be announced, but it’s leaning towards being a possibility.
