Iman Vellani to Top Line Ms. Marvel on Disney Plus

A Disney Plus series has found its leading lady! Iman Vellani is set to star in the title role of Ms. Marvel on the mouse house streamer, according to Deadline!

Vellani is a newcomer to the acting world. In 2019, she participated in a program for the Toronto International Film Festival which highlighted films important to teenagers! Her personal experience of feeling torn between her life as a Pakistani American teen and her home in the West similar to Ms. Marvel.

Ms. Marvel is a relatively new comic character first appearing in 2014. She is New Jersey teen Kamala Khan! Additionally, she is Marvel’s first Muslim character to have her own comic book! It is Disney’s intention to stay true to character in the series. Kamala Khan will also join the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point!

Bisha K. Ali will serve as head writer. Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Meera Menon will direct several different episodes throughout the season. No word on when the project will begin, but the wheels are turning.
