Listen up nerds! One of your favorite redheads is going back to her Star Trek roots. Kate Mulgrew will reprise the role Capt. Kathryn Janeway in the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy,

The upcoming CG series will air on Nickelodeon sometime in 2021. The show will follow a group of free-spirited teens who find a very beat up Starfleet ship. They get it up and running, and take off for the adventure of their lives.

Mulgrew’s last live action appearance as Capt. Janeway was in 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis! She gives a few words on her big return. “I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway, and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in Star Trek: Prodigy. How thrilling to be able to introduce to these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.

Kevin and Dan Hageman will serve as showrunners and executive producers. Alex Kurtzman is a co-executive producer. This is the 5th show in the ever-growing Star Trek Universe.
