A TV starlet heads to the scary movie world. Sandra Oh is set to star in the upcoming horror film Umma, according to Deadline.
Umma is the Korean word for mother. Oh will portray mom Amanda in the film. The plot will follow Amanda and her daughter on their quiet American farm. Things are going well until Amanda’s estranged mother shows up from Korea! Soon, she is paralyzed with fear of becoming her mother.
Iris K. Shim will serve as writer and director. This is her feature film directorial debut. Horror genre veteran Sam Raimi is producing the film under his company Raimi Productions with Zainab Azizi. Starlight Media CEO Peter Luo is the executive producer.
Oh joins Fivel Stewart, Dermot Mulroney, Odeya Rush, MeeWha Alana Lee and Tom Yi as a member of the Umma cast.
