
The upcoming trailer is not for those who scare easily. CBS All Access dropped a new trailer for The Stand!
The Stand is based on the 1978 novel of the same name by Horror guru Stephen King. The novel was previously made into a miniseries on ABC in 1994. 26 years later, CBS All Access is trying its hand at a second limited series television adaptation.
The show will begin on December 17. After, a new episode will air every Thursday. The series will be nine episodes in total. As a real treat, Stephen King himself wrote the finale with a new coda to the novel!
Benjamin Cavell and Taylor Elmore serve as show creators. The cast includes Whoopi Goldberg, James Marsden, Greg Kinnear, Alexander Skarsgård, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Amber Heard and Owen Teague.
Set in a world in ruins after an influenza pandemic killed the majority of Earth’s citizens, a few survivors establish a new social system. Soon, the struggle between good and evil rears its ugly head. It seems all may be lost until 108 year old Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) appears to survivors in their dreams. She is the key to survival, and has the ability to see visions of things to come. However, everyone will eventually have face their worst nightmare, Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgård) aka The Dark Man. He has a smile that will kill, and possess phenomenal cosmic powers! .
