A space drama just got its final mission. Deadline reports The Expanse will return for one last season on Amazon.
The series received an early renewal, as season 5 doesn’t premiere until December 16. The show is set in the future where humans have colonized the solar system. The citizens of Earth, Mars and the Asteroid Belt are constantly in conflict. When the members of the Rocinante ship discover an ancient alien technology, a war may be on the horizon.
The entire cast will return for season 6, except Cas Anvar who portrays Alex Kamal. Anvar was hit with quite a few sexual misconduct allegations during the summer. Showrunner Naren Shankar will be back, as well.
Executive producers, Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, give thanks for the show’s journey over the years. “We have prided ourselves on having one of the most diverse casts on television and giving a platform to stories that matter. A special thanks to Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, the writers of both the books and series, and to Naren Shankar, the series showrunner and executive producer. It continues to be an honor and privilege to work with this team. We also would like to thank Amazon for their continuing support to help us tell this story in its fullest and to bring The Expanse to a global audience.”
