Black Lightning Spinoff Painkiller Set For The CW

Will lightning strike twice? Black Lightning’s Painkiller is getting a spinoff on The CW, according to TVLine!

The new Painkiller series will get a good old fashioned backdoor pilot on the upcoming season Black Lightning. Episode 7 will feature Painkiller finding refuge in a new city, Akashic Valley. He leaves Freeland due to his constant internal battle of Khalil Payne vs. Painkiller bringing harm to his loved ones. He tries to find peace in his new surroundings, but that is impossible for him. He decides to fight for justice, but still has to find time to calm the Painkiller.

Black Lightning showrunner Salim Akil will direct and pen the pilot. Additionally, he serves as executive producer. Jordan Calloway will lead the series. Warner Bros Television is producing the series.

In the meantime, Painkiller will still appear on season four of Black Lightning. The series will return February 2021 on The CW.
