This is one a bumpy ride! On Instagram, China Anne McClain reveals Season 4 of Black Lightning was going to be her last regardless of the show ending!

Last Friday, The CW announced the upcoming season 4 of Black Lighting was going to be the last one. This news came as a shock to everyone including members of the cast. This weekend, China Anne McClain aka Jennifer Pierce/Lightning announces she learned of the series’ fate the same way everyone else did.

In addition, she admits she was leaving Black Lightning at the end of the season. She states “I am leaving the show, and was leaving the show. This was going to be my last season, regardless of if it went on or not. For different reasons, that to be honest, I don’t want to go into. I just want y’all to trust me on it. I didn’t want to tell you until I had to.” WHOA! She continues to drop another bomb. “I only agreed to do a certain number of episodes. So, I’m not in the whole season.

The actress looked very somber, and even broke out in tears, throughout the entire 12 minute video. It’s clear there is more than meets the eye here. Watch McClain’s full Instagram post below.
