A Hollywood veteran actress jumps into a new genre. Deadline breaks Julia Stiles will star in Orphan: First Kill!
No word on Stiles’ character is available at the moment. However, the film has been shooting in Canada. Additionally, it is confirmed the lead of the first film Isabelle Fuhrman will reprise her role as Esther.
2009’s Orphan followed the adoption of 9 year old Esther into a family that just lost a baby. However, the family soon realizes Esther isn’t a sweet little girl, but a mastermind of deception. The film starred Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard and Fuhrman.
Orphan: First Kill is the prequel to the original film. This time, Esther escapes from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels to America. She changes her name from Leena Klammer to Esther and impersonates the missing daughter of a wealthy American family. Soon, she meets her match in a very protective mother. Will she prevail?
William Brent Bell occupies the director’s chair. David Coggeshall penned the script. Alex Mace, Hal Sadoff, Ethan Erwin, and James Tomlinson are producing the film. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, Jen Gorton and Josie Liang all serve as executive producers along with Entertainment One and Dark Castle Entertainment are the studios behind the project.
