The time to revisit your favorite scary movie is coming soon. Kevin Williamson announces Scream 5 has wrapped filming, and reveals the official title on Twitter.
According to the original Scream scribe, Scream 5 will simply be known as Scream! This is clearly a call back to the first film from 1996 of the same name. In the tweet, he reflects on Scream’s legacy. “Nearly 25 years ago, when I wrote Scream and Wes Craven brought it to life, I could not have imagined the lasting impact it would have on you, the fans.I’m excited for you to return to Woodsboro and get really scared again. I believe Wes would’ve been so proud of the film that Matt and Tyler are making. I’m thrilled to be reunited with Neve, Courteney, David and Marley, and to be working alongside a new filmmaking team.“
Additionally, Williamson included a few pictures from the set. In the first, he is holding the Scream clapboard while Ghostface looms behind him with a knife. The second is the first poster for the new film. Ghostface can be seen behind the iconic title. In the last picture, Williams takes a selfie with Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell.
Scream will hit theaters on January 14, 2020! The big 3 OG cast members Cox, Campbell, David Arquette are all back for more madness in Woodsboro! Check out Williamson’s tweets below!
