Welp, this sucks! Black Lightning will end when the season 4 finale airs, according to Variety.

Black Lightning first debuted in January 2018. The series was always very strong story and character wise. It was always just okay in the ratings department. Sadly, The CW has decided the upcoming fourth season will be it’s last.

Series creator Salim Akil speaks out on the show’s untimely conclusion. “When we first started the ‘Black Lighting’ journey, I knew that Jefferson Pierce and his family of powerful Black Women would be a unique addition to the superhero genre. The love that Blerds and all comic book fans around the globe have shown this series over the past three seasons proved what we imagined, Black People Want To See Themselves in all their complexities.

The show starred Cress Williams, Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain, Christine Adams, Marvin “Krondon” Jones III, James Remar, and Jordan Calloway. Additionally, Calloway’s Painkiller will get a backdoor pilot in episode seven. Black Lightning is the latest DC Comic tv show to go to the graveyard. Arrow ended last season, and Supergirl will finish its run next year.
