Will Mads Mikkelsen Replace Johnny Depp in Fantastic Beasts?

Well, that didn’t take long! Rumors are swirling Mads Mikkelsen will possibly replace Johnny Depp in Fantastic Beasts, according to Deadline.

MIkkelsen is the director’s, David Yates, top choice to portray Gellert Grindelwald in the Harry Potter spinoff. It is said he is in early talks with the studio. The goal is keep the release date of July 15, 2022. The film is currently in production.

This past week, Warner Bros. asked Depp to step down from the film due to his legal troubles. Depp resigned, and now the picture needs a new villain. Eddie Redmayne and Jude Law will return for the third film in the franchise. The duo previously starred in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in 2018.
