Add another casualty to the one and done list. Deadline reports Utopia has been cancelled at Amazon!

The series debuted in late September to lukewarm reviews. Furthermore, the streaming numbers were quiet at best. Without much buzz, Amazon decided to end the show after one season.

Utopia received a straight to series order from the streamer. Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn served as show creator and writer. John Cusack, Sasha Lane, Rainn Wilson, Desmin Borges, Jessica Rothe, Dan Byrd,Javon “Wanna” Walton, and Ashleigh LaThrop were all part of the main cast.

Apparently, the series was originally in the works at HBO in 2015, but a deal could not be reached. The budget being the main cause things fell apart. Amazon’s 2020 version of the series will still be available on Prime.
