Another day, another comic book show for The CW. The network has tapped director Ava DuVernay to develop a series on DC Comics character Naomi!

Naomi is an adopted teen from a small Northwestern town with a superhero future. A supernatural event rocks her city, and she must discover why it happened. As she comes upon the truth, it reveals new things about her origin and the real nature of superheroes.

The series takes its source material from the 2019 comic book Naomi: Season One, which was co-written by Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker. For the TV adaptation, DuVernay and Jill Blankenship will co-write and executive produce the project. In addition, Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes will co-produce.

DuVernay is no stranger to the supernatural. She directed 2018’s A Wrinkle in Time. This is her first partnership with The CW! Will you watch Naomi?
