The multiverse is really starting to come together. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alfred Molina is in talks to reprise his role as Doctor Octopus for Spider-Man 3!
Molina previously portrayed eight armed villain Doctor Octopus aka Otto Octavius in Sony’s critically acclaimed Spider-Man 2. His performance is still highly regarded to this day. With his possible addition to Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man 3, it’s clear the studio is setting up multiple realities.
Meanwhile, Collider is reporting Kirsten Dunst will join the film and return as MJ. Toby Maguire will also return, pending Sony and Marvel’s negotiations. The site is also reporting Andrew Garfield will reprise his role as Peter Parker and that Emma Stone will appear as Gwen Stacy, pregnancy permitting.
As of right now, Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider Man. In addition, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori will all be back as well. Benedict Cumberbatch will appear as Doctor Strange. Jon Watts will continue to occupy the director’s chair as he did for the first and second films.
The third Spider-Man installment in the MCU is scheduled for a Dec. 17, 2021 debut.
