The mouse house is wasting no time on new Disney Plus content. A Willow TV adaptation is set to cast Erin Kellyman, Cailee Spaeny and Ellie Bamber scoops Deadline.
Previously, Disney announced the 1988 fantasy film Willow would get the television treatment. Main star Warwick Davis will return for the new iteration of the franchise. Now, Kellyman, Spaeny and Bamber are all being courted for roles.
In the series, a group will be tasked to save a kidnapped prince. Bamber will portray Dove, who will be similar to Willow from the film. She is a simple maid who ends up being the chosen one. Spaeny will play Princess Kit. Her twin brother is the abducted prince. Kellyman will step into the role of Kit’s best friend and conscience, Jade. The young woman is the top warrior around.
Jonathan Kasdan and Wendy Mericle wills serve as co-showrunners. Additionally, Kasdan wrote the pilot. Jon M. Chu will occupy the director’s chair for the first episode. Original director Ron Howard and Bob Dolman will be co-producers.
