Sony To Release Escape Room 2 Early

This horror sequel will hit theaters sooner rather than later! According to Deadline, Escape Room 2 will debut in early 2022 instead of late 2022!

The follow up to 2019’s Escape Room will take its bow on Jan. 7, 2022! The new film will continue to follow the story of survivors Zoey (Taylor Russell) and Ben (Logan Miller) as they try to take on the Puzzle Maker. The first movie earned $155M worldwide at the box office.

Adam Robitel will serve as director again for the next installment. Maria Melnik returns to pen the screenplay with Will Honley and Daniel Tuch. The original story was written by Christine Lavaf, Fritz Bohm and Honley. Russell and Miller will reprise their roles as Zoey and Ben respectively. New additions to the cast include Indya Moore, Holland Roden, Isabelle Fuhrman, Carlito Olivero, Thomas Cocquerel, and James Frain.

Sony is eager to push the film out the door due to its microbudget. If the sequel can live up to the original, the studio may have another hit on its hands.
