Don’t Expect Henry Cavill’s Superman in Shazam Sequel

This rumor has been put to bed! Variety confirms Henry Cavill’s Superman will not appear in Shazam! Fury of the Gods!

Earlier in the week, the Internet was abuzz with chatter of Cavill’s Superman making a special appearance in the Shazam sequel! 2019’s Shazam! is set in the same universe of 2013’s Man of Steel. The film mentions Superman several times, and he “appears” from the neck down at the end.

Director David F. Sandberg took to Twitter to give a little insight on the rumors. He states “Halfway through shooting Shazam the plan was still for Cavill to be in it. Scoopers could have scooped that and been right at the time but wrong in the end.” It looks like Cavill was supposed to be in the film, but things have changed.

Cavill is still set to return as Superman at some point, but exact film is up in the air. Check out Sandberg’s full tweet below!

Not going to comment on casting rumors for several reasons. One being you can’t be sure about anything until it’s happened. Halfway through shooting Shazam the plan was still for Cavill to be in it. Scoopers could have scooped that and been right at the time but wrong in the end.
