Borderlands keeps on its casting roll! The video game to film adaptation has cast Haley Bennett and Florian Munteanu.

According to IGN, Bennett will portray a brand new character in the franchise! The only details available are that she will have a key role in Lilith’s (Cate Blanchett) past. It’s clear the film is taking a bit of an artistic license with the popular video game’s story. Only time will tell how fans will react.

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter scoops that Munteanu will fill the role for Krieg. He is the muscle for Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), the teenage off the wall explosions expert. Krieg is actually the German word for “war”. Look for him to breathe fire and use a battle axe. He is quite the bulky guy, which is perfect for the former boxer known as “Big Nasty”.

Director Eli Roth shared his thoughts on Munteanu joining the film. “Florian brings real humanity and multiple layers to a character who on the surface seems totally insane and brutally savage. Krieg was by far the most difficult role to cast, and Florian brought him to life and grounded him in a way that I didn’t know was possible. He’s going to be a brilliant Krieg and will fit in perfectly with our incredible cast.

Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Greenblatt and Jack Black round out the star studded cast. Eli Roth will direct. Craig Mazin wrote the most recent version of the script. Avi AradAri Arad and Erik Feig serve as producers.

Borderlands is currently in pre-production!
