Emerald Fennell to Pen DC's Zatanna

Zantanna is coming to DC’s universe! Deadline breaks Emerald Fennell will pen the upcoming Zatanna film!

First appearing in a 1964 Hawkman comic, Zatanna is quite the magician by day and sorceress by night. Her abilities are genetic as her father, Zatara, has similar powers. Her goal is to find him. Serinda Swan portrayed the character on The CW’s Smallville for three seasons!

DC President Walter Hamada is over the film. J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot along with Warner Bros. will produce. Zatanna will be the second female led DC film behind the Wonder Woman franchise.

Fennell is coming off a whirlwind awards season. She recently earned a WGA for Promising Young Woman. The young filmmaker is also nominated in the Best Director category for an Academy Award.
