Live-Action Little Mermaid Adds Jessica Alexander

Life “Under the Sea” continues to flourish! Jessica Alexander has joined Disney’s live-action feature film The Little Mermaid, per Deadline!

Alexander’s character is still up in the air. She is the latest addition to the cast along with Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, Daveed Diggs, and Javier Bardem. The story will follow a talented singing mermaid princess as she wishes to become a human.

The new film will find a way to add songs from the 1989 animated film on the same name. Original composer Alan Menken returns to create new songs with lyrics by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Rob Marshall occupies the director’s chair, while David Magee penned the script.

Alexander is a relatively new actress. Her biggest credit is the 2020 TV series Get Even, which is available on Netflix.

Look for the film to possibly hit theaters on July 9, 2021!
