The ultimate 1960’s witch will meet the 2020’s! Sony Pictures is developing an updated Bewitched film, per Deadline!
The film will take its source material from the 1960’s classic television series of the same name. The series starred Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha, Dick York and Dick Sargent as Darrin, Agnes Moorehead as Endora, and David White as Larry Tate. In the show, Samantha was a powerful witch who moonlighted as a housewife! She loved her mortal husband Darrin, but her powers and magical family always made for an interesting adventure.
This time, Sony is taking a different direction with the movie. They tried the romantic route in 2005 starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell and it did not go over well. In the new version, the witch will marry an unsuspecting advertising executive. Her magical and downright crazy relatives will keep their lives busy.
Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett will co-write the script. John Davis and John Fox serve as producers.
