The CW has dropped the first Kung Fu trailer!

The show is a reboot of the 1970’s David Carradine led series of the same name by Ed Spielman. In the modern version, Nicky Shen (Olivia Liang) is having a quarter-life crisis. She drops out of law school and begins a journey that will change her life.

In the trailer, her family does not take Shen’s education news well. She ends up at an monastery in China. It’s clear she is trained in the martial arts. Shen spends a good amount of time training with mentor, Pei-Ling Zhang (Vanessa Kai).

By the time Shen return home to San Francisco, it is different than she remembers. The city is overrun by corruption. Her parents Jin (Tzi Ma) and Mei-Li (Kheng Hua Tan) are at the beck and call of the Triads. She realizes she must defend her hometown by kicking everyone’s butt!

Christina M. Kim serves as head writer and executive producer. Sarah SchechterMartin Gero, and Greg Berlanti will co-executive produce the series. Kung Fu debuts on April 7!
