The Rodney Dangerfield of comic book evildoers is finally getting his moment in the sun. Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K, an animated comedy series following the titular M.O.D.O.K (Patton Oswalt), a “megalomaniacal supervillain” who “has long pursued his dream of one day conquering the world” debuts May 21 on Marvel’s corporate sibling, Hulu.
Oswalt, who co-created the Marvel series with Jordan Blum, recently hosted a WonderCon@Home panel with cast members Melissa Fumero (Melissa), Aimee Garcia (Jodie), Ben Schwartz (Lou), Wendi McLendon-Covey (Monica), Beck Bennett (Austin Van Der Sleet), Jon Daly (Super-Adaptoid) and Sam Richardson (Gary). The series also boasts megawatt guest stars Jon Hamm as Iron Man, Whoopi Goldberg as Poundcakes, Nathan Fillion as Wonder Man and Bill Hader as Angar the Screamer and The Leader. According to The Verge, “Marvel’s M.O.DO.K. was originally part of a larger slate of animated Marvel shows planned for Hulu in 2019 by the now-defunct Marvel TV, alongside Hit-Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler, and Howard the Duck series. The four shows were then slated to cross over in a special called The Offenders (a take on existing crossover shows like the Avengers films or Netflix’s Defenders for its Marvel heroes).
