Hulu has released The Handmaid’s Tale’s season 4 trailer!
At the end of The Handmaid’s Tale season 3, June (Elisabeth Moss) is shot by Gilead guards while on the run in the woods. She had just successfully routed a group of children and a few Martha’s out of the country. A few fellow handmaid’s carry June to safety before she is caught.
In season 4, it’s clear June has been on the run with her friend and handmaid Janine (Madeline Brewer). A voice over asks “Ms. Osborne, if you were to return to Gilead, would be subject to danger or torture?” It’s unclear if June made it out or if this is a phone call. Flashes of June strapped to a torture contraption, handmaids in a van, and scared young girls flash across the screen.
June is in street clothes and appears to have been in a fight. Then, we flash to Nick (Max Minghella) telling a few Martha’s he needs to get in touch with June. The Martha’s warn he is better off without her. Soon, Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) is seen and heard letting everyone know June has eluded the soldiers for 19 days. Lydia wants June’s head on a platter brought to her.
Janine wonders if June has a secret brillant plan. Juen only comments she made a promise to hurt them like they have been hurt. The news of the plane full of children spreads like wildfire. Commander Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes) believes it will start a war.
Moira (Samira Wiley) mentions “she” is public enemy number one in Gilead and will not last one week here (Canada). As Nick struggles to give June up, Commander Joseph Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) advises him to give her up. Meanwhile, June is trying to escape gunfire with Janine. At some point, she also reunites with her daughter Hannah (Jordana Blake) who is in a plastic box.
As a Gilead up in some flashes across the screen, June states “We are not free. You have destroyed my life.” June asks for justice, but will she receive it?
