Superman: Red Sun Trailer Lands on the Internet!

DC Entertainment debuted a trailer for its upcoming Superman: Red Sun animated feature on the video game and entertainment site IGN. In Superman: Red Sun, Kal-El’s rocket lands in Russia instead of Kansas. Instead of fighting for truth, justice, and the American way, Superman fights for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The film adapts a 2003 comic series written by Mark Millar (co-creator of Kick-Ass and Kingsman), pencils were provided by Dave Johnson and Kilian Plunkett.

The animated film features Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy from the Harry Potter film franchise) as Kal-El/Superman. Amy Acker (The Gifted) portrays Lois Lane and Diedrich Bader (Batman: The Brave and the Bold) as Lex Luthor. Phil Morris, who played J’onn Jonzz on Smallville, voices as James Olsen. Phil LaMarr, currently on Season 5 of Supergirl, is John Stewart. The Dark Knight is voiced by Roger Craig Smith (Batman: Ninja). Actress Vanessa Marshall serves as Wonder Woman role; she previously voiced the character in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.

Superman: Red Son is scripted by long-time DC comics writer J.M. DeMatteis; he also wrote the animated movie Batman: Bad Blood. DeMatteis has written/co-written numerous comics featuring Superman and Batman, including a memorable run on Justice League International. The film is directed by veteran animator and director Sam Liu.
