An upcoming science fiction series finds its new boss! Deadline spills Philippa Goslett will replace Joss Whedon as showrunner in The Nevers!

Whedon stepped down from the project in November. He was tasked with being the showrunner, co-writer and director of the series. However, he realized “the level of commitment required moving forward, combined with the physical challenges of making such a huge show during a global pandemic, is more than I can handle without the work beginning to suffer.

Goslett takes over the series for Whedon. The co-wrote the script for 2018’s How to Talk to Girls at Parties. This is her first big television show. Additionally, she will be a co-executive producer with Jane Espenson, Doug Petrie, Ilene S. Landress, and Bernadette Caulfield.

The Nevers follows a group of Victorian women who have strange, but special powers. The team of women accept a mission that has the ability to change the world. However, they must be mindful of their relentless enemies. Look for the series to air on HBO later this year.
